Joining-in sessions
Some people come to festivals to listen and head straight for the marquee. But if you like to take a more active part in providing the music, then head for the Family Room at the front of the pub where the Sessions will be taking place.

We have a tradition at Wittfest of "Themed Sessions", so you can indulge in your favourite brand of music along with other enthusiasts, but there will also be time available for Unthemed Sessions where "anything goes".

Naturally, listeners are very welcome too - you don't have to be a performer to come along!

Saturday 19th June

12.00 Folk with Lucy For us at the Plough, "folk is what folk do", so we welcome anything from Traditional to Contemporary, Sixties to Self-Penned.
12.30 Shackleton Unique to Wittfest! Ernest Shackleton is our Number One Hero. Come and hear the wonderful array of songs we've written about him!
13.00 Jazz / Blues with Paul Virtuoso guitarist Paul Cleverley leads this great session. If you're into Blues or old standards from the 30's and 40's, this is for you!
14.00 Ballads with Caroline Songs of passion, lust, jealousy and hate meet up with stories of battles, ghosts, magic, pirates and highwaymen. This is your chance to hear some of the really big narratives and, as some of them can be on the long side, we've given them a bit more time! Bring your favourites along!
15.30 Age Concern Singing for Health and Fun with Sally and Rachel Last year Rachel's Age Concern Group from West Oxon wowed us at Wittfest! They sat in the front garden of the pub in the sunshine and sang their hearts out. Loads of people came to join in, including several passers-by! It was one of our Festival Highlights. This year Sally is bringing her Abingdon Group along and we're all looking forward to another really good sing!
Rest of Saturday After Age Concern's spot (at an undetermined time) the Family Room is available for unthemed Sessions to continue through the evening.

Sunday 20th June

11.00 Workshop: Singing Rounds with Sue New this year! Warm up your vocal chords and have some fun! Rounds are easy to learn and can sound really great.
12.00 Tunes with Geoff and Linda Bring out your guitars, fiddles, banjos, whistles, shaky eggs, spoons or anything else, and come and play some great tunes with talented local musicians Linda (cello) and Geoff (mandoline and guitar), who will be performing later on in the marquee.
13.00 Shanties with Short Drag Roger Who cares how far away we are from the sea??.....This is today's "Big Sing"! Come and join in the rousing choruses with Oxfordshire's finest Shantymen (also on later in the marquee) and help raise the roof!
14.00 Informal/Unthemed Outside these times, there are no special themes. Just come along to the Family Room and join in with whatever's going on. And if there isn't a Session going on, start one!...
